Irregular Past Forms

(Bentuk2 kata kerja lampau tak beraturan)

Remember that past forms of the following irregular verbs are not the same as the participles:

Inga.. (hanya) bentuk kata2 kerja lampau tak beraturan berikut ini (yang) tidak sama dengan kata2 kerja asli (participles)

Urutannya dipisah dengan strip begini ya dari ketiga bentuk kata2 kerja ini

VERB WORD – PAST FORM – PARTICIPLE

(KATA KERJA – BENTUK LAMPAU – KATA KERJA ASLI)

Be – was/were – been : ada

Beat – beat – beaten : memukul

Become – became – become : menjadi

Begin – began – begun : mulai

Bite – bit – bitten : menggigit

Blow – blew – blown : bertiup

Break – broke – broken : mematahkan

Choose – chose – chosen : memilih

Come – came – come : datang

Do – did – done : berbuat

Draw – drew – drawn : menggambar

Drink – drank – drunk : minum

Drive – drove – driven : mengendarai

Eat – ate – eaten : makan

Fall – fell – fallen : jatuh

Fly – flew – flown : terbang

Forget – forgot – forgotten : melupakan

Forgive – forgave – forgiven : memaafkan

Freeze – froze – frozen : membekukan, beku

Get – got – gotten/ got : mendapat, menjadi

Give – gave – given : memberi

Go – went – gone : pergi

Grow – grew – grown : tumbuh

Hide – hid – hidden : menyembunyikan

Know – knew – known : mengetahui, mengenal

Ride – rode- ridden : menunggang

Run – ran – run : lari, menjalankan

See – saw – seen : melihat

Shake – shook – shaken : menggoyangkan

Show – showed – shown : mempertunjukkan

Shrink – shrank – shrunk : mengerutkan

Sing – sang – sung : menyanyi

Speak – spoke – spoken : berbicara

Steal – stole – stolen : mencuri, menyelinap

Swear – swore – sworn : bersumpah

Swim – swam – swum : berenang

Take – took – taken : mengambil

Tear – tore – torn : menyobek

Throw – threw – thrown : melemparkan, membanting

Wear – wore – worn : memakai, berpakaian

Weave – wove – woven : menenun

Withdraw – withdrew – withdrawn : mencabut

Write – wrote – written : menulis

Avoid using a participle instead of a past for simple past statements.

(Hindari penggunaan kata kerja asli sebagai bentuk pernyataan di masa lampau)

Examples/ contoh2:

The concert began at eight o’clock

(konser dimulai jam 8 tadi)

They did it very well after they had practiced

(mereka tadi melakukan itu sangat baik setelah mereka sudah berlatih)

Before she ran the computer program, she had checked it out with her supervisor

(sebelum dia menjalankan program komputer, dia telah mengecek (komputer)nya dengan supervisornya

We ate dinner in Pizza Hut on our vacation last year

(kami makan malam di Pizza Hut saat liburan kami tahun lalu)

My nephew began working for me about ten years ago

(kemenakan laki-lakiku mulai bekerja untukku sudah sejak 10 tahun yang lalu)

I know that you were forty on your last birthday

(saya tahu bahwa anda telah berusia 40 tahun di hari ultah yang terakhir)

When Colombus saw the New World, he thought that he had reached the East Indies by way of a Western route

(ketika kolombus melihat pulau baru, dia berpikir bahwa dia telah mencapai Indian timur lewat jalur barat)

Exercise/ latihan

Before the Angels and Saxons ________ to England, the Iberians had lived there.

a. Coming

b. Come

c. Came

d. Did come

Jawaban yang benar adalah c. came karena kalimat di atas bentuk lampau sehingga butuh kata kerja yang bentuk lampau (past verb)

Before the Angles and Saxons came to England, the Iberians had lived there.

(Sebelum suku Angles dan suku Saxons datang ke Inggris, suku Iberians telah tinggal (terlebih dahulu) di sana)
